The Oblates of the Jaffna Province celebrated the feast of their founder on 21st of May 2012. Provincial Superior, Rev.Fr. M. Paul Natchethiram OMI was the main celebrant at the Holy Mass. Fr. Provincial pointed out in his homily the need of prophetic role of the Oblates in the Church at this crucial time of our people. Many Priests, Religious diocesan seminarians were present at the Holy Eucharistic celebration.
As a priest, religious, missionary and bishop Eugene’s constant aim was to invite others to join the adventure of discipleship, to follow Jesus and to live the Gospel with a heart open to the needs of all especially the poor. Almost 150 years ago a full and dynamic life came to an end – a life as a nobleman, an exile, a courageous young priest who dared to cross boundaries to reach out to the abandoned.
