The Youth wing of the Jaffna Province is situated at the entryway to Jaffna city in a land donated by the family of late Rev. Fr. Patrick Gnapragasam OMI, in his memory. Dheepagnanam was the pseudonym of Fr. Patrick Gnapragasam. Hence, extracting from the Dheepagnanam the Youth Empowerment Center is named as Gnanadheepahm (light of wisdom). In order to honour this great Oblate, the YEC had organized a Remembrance Day on the 21st of December, 2017 on his 8th year death anniversary. Main feature of the programme was the memorial speech delivered by Fr. Anpurasa omi. Fr. Patrick’s relatives and parishioners from Chavakachcheri, Valaippadu, Urumpirai and Puthukkudiyiruppu where he had ministered, took part in the event. A lottery was drawn to bolster the education of the poor children.
