At the invitation of Mandaithivu – Allaipiddy parish priest, Rev. Fr. Manuvelpillai David, the preaching Band community conducted a Grand Mission at Allaipiddy from May 01st – 26th.
The title of Grand Mission was ‘Unity’ based on gospel of John 17:21. The objectives of the Grand Mission was to bring unity among the broken families in post war situation; to educate the values of the sacraments and to animate the youth.
There were many activities such as: House Visiting and Blessing, Cottage Masses, Sharing the Word of God, Marian & Eucharistic Rallies, Pentecost Vigil Service, Healing Service, Ratification of Marriages, Celebration of Sacrament of Reconciliation, Novena Preaching, Bible Quiz & Cultural Competitions, Seminars for Parents Youth and Children …etc
The preaching band community received lot of cooperation from the parish priest, parish community, the Oblates working in the vicinity and the Oblate collaborators, viz. Psycho – Social Counseling Center and Center for Peace – Reconciliation.
The parish community at Allapiddy participated in all the Grand Mission events with full of spiritual enthusiasm. The Grand Mission came to its completion on the 26th of May, on the Feast of St. Philip Neri.
