The second mission preaching of this year 2018 was held at Mandativu from the 6th of April to the 27th of April. Mandaitivu is an island off the coast of Jaffna peninsula in northern Sri Lanka, located approximately 3 kilometres south of the city of Jaffna. Mandativu parish is one of the oldest Oblate missions, that was founded by Fr. Jean Pouzin, O.M.I.in 1859;it was then one of the substations of Kayts.
It is very obvious that a mission preaching is very significant for the people as well as for the preachers, because it has reached to a certain mile stone in the life of the people. The preachers really toiled hard to actualize certain social, parochial, moral and spiritual issues under the leadership of Fr.Celestin Mascaringhe, OMI. Fr.David, the Parish Priest, did everything possible to assist the preachers to make the mission meaningful and fruitful. Eventually, the Grand Mission came to an end with solemn thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Provincial that brought lots of joy and fulfillment.
