Underlining the 3rd year of Oblate Triennium:Mission, Vow of Obedience and Evangelii Gaudium the Preaching Band Community at Amaithy Aham, Vavuniya has organized mission preaching. There were two mission preaching during lent at two parishes, viz. Komarasangkulam – Calvary, St. Joseph’s Parish, Thalvupadu in the diocese of Mannar. And there will be another mission preaching at Allaipiddy parish, in the diocese of Jaffna during the month of May.
The theme of the mission preaching at St. Joseph’s Thalvupadu parish was “Be merciful as your Father is merciful” (Luke 6:36). There were lots of cooperation from the parish priest, parish council, parish community, the Sisters of the Holy Cross of Menzingen at Thalvupadu and the Oblates, working in the diocese of Mannar.
The mission programmes were:
Family Visit
Eucharistic Rally; KadalPozhivugal (preaching and blessing the sea shore)
Seminars for Parents
Seminars for Youth and Children
Preaching the Word of God and the Celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The mission preaching came to its completion on the 19th of March, the Feast of St. Joseph, the Patron of the Parish Community. The provincial superior, presided over the festive mass.
