Deacons Seemanpillai Alstan Roche OMI & Manuelpillai Patrick Prashanth OMI were ordained on the 8th of April 2015 for the Province of Jaffna. They were ordained together with eight other priests by Bishop Rayappu Joseph atSebastian’s Cathedral, Mannar.
Thus the Diocese of Mannar is blessed with six diocesan priests, and the religious orders blessed with two Oblates and two Claretians. While looking at the parents and relatives in the photos, one cannot miss the fact that the parents are enthusiastic in promoting vocations to consecrated life. Truly they foster first-formation and ongoing-formation of their sons and daughters. Sri Lankan is blessed with a monastic culture where vocations to consecrated life thrive; both Buddhism and Hinduism, the majority religions in Sri Lanka, understand and value the role of consecrated life in society.
